A few important things to share from past, present and future from the co founders of Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club..
1st January 2021
Since transferring the club in 2015 from Barry Island to Victoria Park Cardiff it has provided greater access to more people and benefited from the stability of a permanent set up. The club instantly acquired a larger membership, held more events and most importantly created a permanent home for Beach Volleyball in Wales.
The Club became the first venue to host the under 17s Interregional Beach Championships and the Home Nations under 20s.
In 2015 we started with 2 sand courts & by 2018 progressed to 6 sand courts. The venue is now recognised by all UK Nations and visited by players from across the UK and abroad.
The Club is affiliated with both Volleyball England and Volleyball Wales and hosts events working with UKBT and Fireball UK.
We have faced difficult times this year and wish to share with you what we believe to be the important aspects of our club with some vision into the future years. I look forward to working/playing together in the future and growing this sport that has so greatly positively affected our lives.
Let’s keep ourselves fit, healthy, strong and mentally challenged always.. and play some volleyball as soon as we can.

Important Principles/Mission Statement for Cardiff Beach Volleyball Club
To provide a high quality facility to enable people to enjoy the sport of Beach Volleyball.
Provide a social club atmosphere where members are able to come together and enjoy the environment whether playing or not.
Encourage an attitude of progression within the sport and the people attending and to pass on knowledge from the more experienced players through to the less experienced.
Whenever possible to nurture the young by developing their sport skills, communication skills and interactions with people of different ages, genders etc and show them how outdoor activity can benefit their lives.
Maintain a friendly, positive, healthy and professional relationship to all members and visitors without prejudice to race, gender, height, age, status or ability.
The club should be a familiar and safe place to enjoy by all. The membership system will bring this element to the club. The pricing structure will be fair and inclusive to all. The club can provide a safe, enjoyable place for families.
New members are always welcome and will be expected to follow the same respectful attitude as the current members.
All visitors living within an hour commute to the club will expect to become members and sign up to one of the membership options if regularly attending.
All visitors to the club should be treated with the same respect as the members.
The facility will endeavour to provide regular training sessions and tournaments for all abilities. Guest coaches and external event organisers will also be welcomed. Other beach sport events will also be encouraged and accommodated whenever possible.
The club will be accessible to the local community and will accommodated whenever possible.
The club will endeavour to provide drinking water, shower facilities, shelter, hot water, toilets and refreshments when possible. The club has upgraded it’s filming, broadcasting ability which will benefit training sessions and reaching a wider audience when events are in process.
The Future Plans
To provide sheltered courts that could operate through the winter months and rainy days.
To host events that would give Welsh players and club members an opportunity to compete at the highest levels possible.
To develop players from all levels and supporting teams capable of representing Wales at international events.
To assist Volleyball Wales in expanding the participation of Volleyball in general whether played indoors or outdoors, recreationally or professionally. Providing support through our facility, coaching support, technical and sharing responsibility and accountability and generally supporting Volleyball Wales in any way possible and encouraging our members to do the same.
To encourage the playing of more than 2 a side volleyball by holding events, leagues and coaching. This will be easier for new players to participate without previous playing experience.
To be able to provide paid work, part time, full time employment as well as project share opportunities.
A Bigger Picture
Volleyball is currently being played by 900 million people around the World. A recent survey showed that currently in Wales there are 2,500 people playing volleyball with a demand of 50,000 plus. Sport Wales is looking at supporting Volleyball Wales to create the opportunity for more people to gain access to playing Volleyball in Wales. Cardiff Beach Volleyball always has the same vision in providing people with the opportunity to play this great sport.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support along this exciting journey and wish you all a happy, healthy New Year.
